Spektrum ESC Programmer V2
If you are an RC enthusiast, that uses Spektrum;s line of electronics. Then you know getting the most out of your vehicle means fine tuning its performance to your specific needs. The tool you need in your bag for that job is the Spektrum ESC Programmer V2.
Spektrum’s V2 ESC Programmer is a compact easy to use device that allows you to program and configure a wide range of Spektrum ESC’s. Including the Avian and Firma line of products. With its simple 4 button interface and LCD screen, you can adjust a variety of settings within your RC car to optimize performance.
The V2 Programmer is for more than just for performance tweaks. It also allows you to configure other features of your Spektrum ESC, such as low voltage cutoff, and motor rotation. With the included USB wire, you can keep your programmer up to date with all the latest software improvements by connecting to your computer (internet connection required).
On the front of the Spektrum Programmer is an LCD screen. Below there are 4 buttons. Left to right, Select - Edit - Reset - Save. When you press the select button you will be able to scroll through the 13 functions of your RC car that you can adjust.
1) Running Mode - This determines what action the ESC will make the car perform when different commands are given to the transmitter, i.e.: forward/brake/reverse, or forward/instant reverse, and so on
2) Voltage Cutoff - When your battery reaches a certain voltage the ESC will cut power, so the battery will not get damaged.
3) Throttle Matching - this feature allows you to lessen the power to the cars motor when accelerating, so you don't lose control.
4) Max Forward - setting the power when going forward.
5) Max reverse - setting the power when going reverse.
6) Turbo Timing - This increases the amount of time turbo is used, which will increase top speed, but strain the motor.
7) Turbo Delay - controls when turbo kicks in
8) Drag Brake - this controls the amount of resistance applied to the wheels when you let off on the throttle.
9) Drag Brake Rate - The amount of braking power applied when no throttle (or brake) input is applied. If there is no drag brake the car will coast freely when you get off the throttle
10) Neutral Range - the range of play you have before the car reacts to the command you give the transmitter.
11) Punch - This will allow you or limit you to how fast you can get to full throttle.
12) BEC Voltage - Battery Eliminator Circuit. Basically, this is like a voltage regulator, for use with RC Planes
13) Motor Rotation - Change the motor direction without any wiring.
Overall if you use a Spektrum brand ESC, the v2 ESC Programmer is an invaluable tool. The simple interface, versatile functionality, and firmware updates ensure you will always have access to the latest performance enhancements, and improvements. Whether you are an enthusiast like me, or you are new to the hobby. The Spektrum ESC Programmer V2 is just the right tool for you.
