Arrma Vendetta Review
One of the best values out today is the Arrma Vendetta. This RTR ⅛ scale beast comes in 2 colors. A deep blue with neon green stripes. The blue paint seems to have a circuitry type fingerprint design throughout its body, very tron-like. The Vendetta is also available in greenish-yellow with red and black accents, still with the circuitry fingerprint type design like the blue model.
Let's get into the value part of this car. The Vendetta at the time of this article is $369.99 USD. What do you get for that? A brushless 3S on road basher, that boasts 70+ MPH (with special pinion gear included) out of the box. It comes with all Spektrum electronics, including the Firma 3660 3900kv brushless motor. The Spektrum Firma 100A smart ESC (electronic speed control). Spektrum also provides the receiver, and the servo for this amazing car. Last but not least of the Spektrum equipment is the 2.4Ghz DX3 smart Dsmr transmitter. It has 3 channels, and is bluetooth capable with the optional BT2000 module also from Spektrum. You will be able to download the free Spektrum app to your mobile device for all types of telemetry (including speed).
But let’s get back to what you do get with the Arrma Vendetta.T hreaded oil filled shocks. Completely adjustable with the included tool. Front and rear double wishbone suspension, and sway bars for added handling The tires are dboots Hoons Elevens, an all road tire that will be great on blacktop, or flat dirt. Also with the car you get 2 rear wings. One to create low downforce, one for high downforce. A quick swap out with only 4 screws. The Vendetta comes with Arrma’s AVC (Active Vehicle Control) which enables you to dial in the traction for whatever surface, or need you might have at the time. Control of the AVC system is right in your hand on the Spektrum DX3 transmitter.
What you will need to get the car running is batteries. 4AA for the transmitter. The Vendetta itself can use a 2S, or a 3S LiPo (Lithium-polymer) battery, with EC5, or IC5 connectors. Minimum battery specs Arrma recommends are 5000 Mah (milliampere-hours) , and a 50c rating. You will also need a compatible charger for the battery you chose to go with.
The first time I drove the Arrma Vendetta I have to admit I was a little nervous, but once I hit the throttle all those nerves became excitement. It handles really well. No need to ease into the throttle, like a lot of other cars. Just punch it and go. There is no swaying out of line, if you don't steer it won’t turn. Providing your road is flat, and free of debris. The Spektrum SPMS651 7kg metal gear digital servo is very quick, steady, and responsive.It is also waterproof, like some of the other electronics. Although I will not be running the Vendetta anywhere near water. In my opinion it is meant for dry flat runs. Mine will only get wet when I wash it.
So what do I think about the Arrma Vendetta? Amazing!! Probably one of my favorite cars to date. Arrma continues to impress me with the quality of their RC cars they manufacture, and the value at which they offer them to us. The Vendetta as it comes out of the box is incredibly smooth, and fast. I would say the entire driving experience hits the sweet spot. If you are in the market for a 3S RTR street car, then the Vendetta is definitely worth a look.
