Arrma Granite Mega 4x4 Review
Some people may consider the Arrma Granite Mega 4x4 an entry level RC monster truck. They are not wrong. But the seasoned RC enthusiast will still have a lot of fun bashing this truck. Especially if you are looking for something easy to maintain and keep on the road, ready to go. At a very affordable price. On the other hand, if you are a first time RC driver or want to get an RC car for your child to introduce them to the hobby. The Arrma Granite would be a great starting point for them. Not only is it so much fun to drive, but it is also very easy to work on. Arrma’s modular design makes all the components very accessible. The Granite is very easily upgraded, and repair friendly. But it will take a lot to break this car.
The Granite Mega has a composite chassis with a rugged and durable design. It can stand up to rough terrain, and handle jumps with ease. It has oil filled shocks and a double wishbone suspension to provide excellent handling and stability. The Granite is powered by a brushed 12t 550 motor, controlled by a waterproof Mega ESC (electronic speed control). Also, in the box Spektrum provides the transmitter. A 3 channel 2.4 GHz SLT3. The receiver, the SLR300, and a waterproof digital servo, the SPMS 650. After about 6 months of driving my servo died. I contacted Arrma via email. After a few correspondences they sent me a new servo free of charge. That one has been in my car since. Arrma has excellent customer service, and a good warranty. The Granite Mega is a 1/10 scale monster truck that comes RTR (ready to run). All you need to get started is 4AA batteries for the transmitter. The battery and charger for the car are included. A Dynamite 3300 mAh 8.4-volt 7 cell NIMH (nickel metal hydride) with IC3 connectors. The Granite is also capable of running 2s LiPo battery. You just need to make an adjustment on the ESC. The internal differential gears in the front and back are metal. Perfect for a brushless upgrade if you choose to do so in the future. The bearings throughout the Granite are rubber shielded. Creating a good seal and keeping the bearings lubricated.
Overall, the Arrma Granite Mega 4x4 is an awesome RC monster truck. It is durable with just enough power for hours of fun. It comes in at a very good value for what you get. At the time I am writing this post it is $269.99 USD from many different dealers. Arrma also runs many sales throughout the year saving you some money if you can catch the sale. Whether you are a first time RCer and just want to try the hobby out, or a seasoned hobbyist. The Arrma Granite Mega 4x4 is a great truck to have some fun with.
